“THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I’VE EVER SEEN” -2nd Grader

“There is a page in You and Me in the Trees where we see a loving couple and their child nestled in a tree trunk. There is light shining on them from their lantern as rain pours down outside. ‘If you protect her [mother nature], she'll protect you.’ You and Me in the Trees is an adorable children's book written by Amoris Walker and beautifully illustrated by Alyssa Gnos.
We are taught not to judge books by their covers. However, the moment you lay your eyes on this book, you will know it's something special. You and Me in the Trees is a superb little book that will make young children conscious of nature, animals, and the environment in general. Regardless of whether or not Walker intended for this book to help children get acquainted with the ideas of environmentalism, it is a solid introduction to the subject.
Both young children and adults can enjoy this book together. I cannot emphasize enough how pretty Gnos's illustrations are - the word pretty does Gnos's art no justice. You will have to get the book yourself to see what I mean. The art leaps from the confines of its pages and pulls the reader in. Amoris Walker's words will whisk the young reader away on a nature-filled journey. Much like Dr. Seuss's books or other similar classics, You and Me in the Trees is written in a semi-rhyming fashion. It concludes as a bedtime story and would be the perfect book to read to your child as they unwind for bedtime.” -Readers Favorite

5.0 out of 5 stars A book about the importance of nature for children, but entire family will enjoy!

This book reminds us of how vital nature is to the development of our children and the time we spend there with them! I love that it is an all inclusive book for all types of families. Beautifully illustrated, the story shares how exploring nature brings such a different experience than our normal city or suburb lives. As a child, I never wanted to camp, never wanted to hike or drive through and look at the amazing mountains. However, my mother Merrilyn made us all go at least twice a month to enjoy nature. These are the fondest and most prevalent memories of my childhood. My happiness depends on time in nature. This book has inspired me to travel to Yellowstone to feed my soul. I think it does for all human beings!

Absolutely adored this thoughtful book about being out in nature and loving our Mother Earth. The sweet rhymes in this book are catchy and kind hearted, and I love the illustrations which depict all kinds of families, races and ages. My kids who are 7 and 3 both choose this book at bedtime often because they love the outdoors and this book reminds them of all the places they like to visit. Beautiful words and beautiful drawings!

This book is beautiful and timely! The author writes about the connection between people and nature, and the focus is on teaching a child to enjoy and respect all the flora and fauna on our big beautiful planet. The illustrations are amazing. I read this to my grandson and he had a lot of great comments and questions. It is engaging, beautifully written and illustrated, and has a finger on the pulse of what is needed in children's picture books right NOW. I urge you to buy it and share it!

What an amazing book!! This is the most beautiful book (both story and illustrations) to read to your littles to encourage them to appreciate and love our incredible planet, and enjoy all the different ways to get out into nature. And, I especially love that the author deliberately shows families and humans in a MULTITUDE of forms; such a wide range of different types of families and people so *every* child is sure to be able to see themselves and their family in this book, whatever form that family takes. It's such an incredibly well written and illustrated book, I'll be giving SEVERAL out as gifts. I can't recommend it highly enough!
5.0 out of 5 stars A joy to be read aloud to little ears!

You and Me in the Trees is an inspiring and beautifully illustrated story. Reading it aloud to my daughter evolved to a bedtime conversation due to the lovely prompts throughout -- where do you want to be, whom do you want to be with, and what would you shout from a mountaintop? Walker's wordsmithing is a joy to be read aloud for little ears, and Gnos' pictures inspire more time outside. This story belongs on every nature-lovers bookshelf or nightstand!

My favorite children's book yet! The author touches so beautifully on my love for the outdoors, nature and animals. I believe this book will change the world for so many kids. It helps foster in children from the beginning a love of nature and how to focus on the simple things in life! I wish i had it on my book shelf when I was little. Highly recommend!

What a nice change for all the silly, nonsense books currently out for children. Such important lessons approached with thought and inclusiveness about people, nature, feelings and joy. The first book of many from this author, I hope.
